Should I repair or replace my furnace, AC or heat pump?
Repair when the system is under about ten years old and the fault is a single affordable part. Replace when it's past twelve to fifteen years, the repair is a large share of a new system's cost, or it uses a refrigerant that's hard to source. We give you both numbers on the same visit so you can decide.
Heat pump, furnace or hybrid: which heating system is right for my Ontario home?
If you heat with electricity, oil or propane, a cold-climate heat pump with an electric air handler usually wins on running cost and gets the top rebate tier. If you're on Enbridge natural gas, a hybrid heat pump and furnace is typically the lowest-cost option. A furnace alone still makes sense when the budget is tight and the AC is fine.
Do I need a heat pump or an air conditioner?
A heat pump costs a bit more than a central AC but heats as well as cools, and it may qualify for an Ontario rebate that an air conditioner never will. If your furnace is staying, a heat pump in place of the AC is usually the better buy.
What counts as an HVAC emergency?
No heat when it's below freezing, no cooling for someone vulnerable to heat, a gas smell, water pouring from the unit, or a carbon monoxide alarm. Call us for same-day service. For a gas smell or CO alarm, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 first.
